An artist, a film maker, an author, and all over public icon is giving inspiration to Pepe Jeans for their upcoming 250-piece collection.
Andy Warhol is known as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. His artwork was seen as controversial at the time, and he is now renowned for his amazing contributions. From Campbell's soup cans to Marilyn Monroe portraid in quadrants and dots, Andy Warhol has made a huge contribution to the art world, and will be doing so to the fashion world as well.
Pepe Jeans has joined the Andy Warhol Foundation, which has already teamed with Levi Strauss previously and produced a denim line under Warhol Factory X Levi's. Pepe Jeans' collection is for men and women, and will showcase in Florence sometime early next? year. It will be called "The Andy Warhol collection by Pepe Jeans London" and it will be the label for two sub-lines, called "Pop" and "Factory", respectfully. The Pop line will be inspired by Warhol's iconic works (his various pop-art pieces). Factory will be inspired by Andy Warhol himself and his style. I'm expecting black jeans, tight turtlenecks, suede blazers, and indie-esque glasses. Pictured to the left is Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. Photo courtesy of PBS.Org
Warhol himself had a fervor for fashion and once said, "I'd rather buy a dress and hang it up on the wall, rather than put a painting, wouldn't you?" (Wikipedia.Com). Warhol also created silkscreen printed dresses and was a short-time catwalk model himself.
Currently, many companies have utilized Warhol's artworks and screened them on shirts, purses, and stationary. Pepe Jeans London will take the next step and creat an Andy Warhol fashion you can actually wear and be a part of.
