Banging Fringe
Thursday, 27 December 2007

They're appearing on the runways, and celebrities are taking heart to them too; bangs are a definite do for your hair.

By: Mitra Asgarinik

Although they may make you feel nostalgic for your kindergarten years, bangs are becoming a hot fashion statement.

36_c.jpgSide bangs are cute, but the eye-skimming fringe gives more of a sexy fashion appeal. Not only will they compliment your facial features, but the trend is still fresh, so you're bound to get compliments. There are many kinds of bangs, ranging from blunt, whisp, texturized, long, and short. Oscar Blandi, a New York City hair stylist and salon owner comments, "Bangs will look good on just about anyone. They key is determining the type that best compliments your face shape" (Cosmopolitan.Com).

If your face is round, what fringe is most flattering are long, feathery bangs that curve into your face, which helps minimize your full cheeks and add countour to your face.

If your face is long, blunt brow-level bangs that cover your forehead give the illusion of a more ovalesque face shape.

If your face is square, opt for the long, side-sweep that will taper into layers at your jaw, which will help soften angles.

Another tip, be wary if you have curly hair: bangs may not be for you, unless you're dedicated to blowdrying them straight and perhaps even running a flat iron through them. Also, when selecting a hair dresser, make sure the salon and stylist are reputable. There's nothing worse than getting a bad haircut, resulting in one bad hair day (or bad hair days for a few months)!

Mary Kate and Ashley Olson have been flaunting their fringe for a while.
