Update: Natalie Portman for Te Casan
Monday, 25 February 2008

Natalie Portman's shoe collection has been out for a while, and it supercedes expectations.

By: Mitra Asgarinik

Although only six styles are available currntly, Portman has designed six great looks perfect for day or night.

As a recap, Portman's new shoe line is totally vegan. The designer is vegan herself, and wanted to create an animal-friendly shoe line because she has troubles finding designer shoes not made of leather. Portman says, "This collection offers a great selection without compromising quality or style." Known for her charitable pursuits, all of the proceeds from the purchases of her shoes will go to various non-profit organizations dedicated to environmental protection and animal rights.

The line offers two styles of flats; however, both are sold out at the moment. Many of her styles are limited editions, and only 100 per size were made. There is a waiting list if you see a shoe you want that is out of stock, so don't get too discouraged. The line promises new styles soon, and you can sign up on their e-mail list to keep current with the new designs.

In addition to the flats, the line features heels, which come in a sandal or pump. Her heels are limited edition as well, but are still available to order.

The line seems to favor a Mary Jane style; the majority of the shoes come with a cute strap and buckle. My personal favorite, is the Pippa pump that Portman displays on the Te Casan website. It's perfect for business, evening, or a day out in the city.

Each style comes in different colors, and the line as a whole favors the color red.
